Traversing the world with a sense of slow fading.
I am everything I have lost. As a migrant, I increasingly understand what Édouard Glissant meant by opacity as anti-identity. I imagine opacity as the creator of a fuller "Self," into which so much can be poured, yet for me, the central idea encompasses all the languages of adaptation.
Adaptation, emancipation, and contamination, as something that constantly crystallize and become new. Passive and active energies are maintained in balance by every living being. The notion that we are in a state of perpetual transformation.
It is crucial to allow oneself the space to be both gentle and brutal. On one end are all the sacrifices, but on the other, you occupy the same space, carving out a place for yourself and joy. This holds the potential for progress.
Traversing the world through opacity is the idea of deserving value.
